Day 17: Client Website

Photo of a blurred tabletop, a notebook with goals, and a hand writing a new goal on the list.

Today I tried to figure out why the CSS wasn’t being applied to the webpage. Today turned into some very interesting and trying times as it took an unexpected twist.

I first thought I was editing the wrong index file but after checking into the location this turned out false. I also attempted to clear cookies on the browser I was testing on but this failed to remedy the problem. I finally used my favorite approach of commenting out all of my code and re-introducing it line by line to see where the issue is. I continued doing this up until the links in the navigation bar but ran into an issue where none of the hyperlinks were displaying correctly. Because of this, I ended up making a new file and using my old code. Everything turned out well for the most part… I was looking into an issue on possibilities on why Google Fonts wasn’t displaying correctly. But somehow I ended up renaming the file from another page as the main HTML file. I guess I used “Save As” instead of “Save” and within moments I lost my progress on my first page.

That was beyond disappointing. But I can’t say it was a complete loss.

I ended up visiting freeCodeCamp’s News page and found an interesting article, “Learn CSS Media Queries by Building Three Projects“. Although not what I was originally looking for, I’m going to be using the examples presented here to bolster my skills in media queries which I can later apply to the client’s page.
